The Cancer Update newsletter is produced by Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, part of Baylor Scott & White Health, to share the latest news of the oncology program at Baylor Scott & White Health and insights on medical innovations in oncology. This collection of articles shares past and current endeavors in cancer research studies, including those happening at Baylor Scott & White Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center – Dallas, located on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center. Studies at Sammons Dallas are conducted through Baylor Scott & White Research Institute, Texas Oncology and The US Oncology Network. Each entity reviews, approves and conducts clinical trials independently.

Baylor Scott & White Health has the largest network of hospital-based cancer programs in Texas and is one of the largest networks of cancer centers accredited by the Commission on Cancer in the nation. As a major academic medical center and the North Texas flagship for Baylor Scott & White, Baylor University Medical Center has become a destination center in cancer care, offering patients access to clinical trials, advanced treatment options, and personalized cancer care through multidisciplinary teams of researchers and specialists in cancer care. This campus comprises of Baylor Scott & White Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center – Dallas and Baylor Scott & White T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital, which together represent one of the largest cancer programs in Texas.

Every Diagnosis is Unique – And Treatment Should Be Too

Baylor University Medical Center is a leader in immuno-oncology and is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapies. In collaboration with Baylor Scott & White Research Institute, the medical center leads research innovation from administering effective therapies, to manufacturing treatment, and conducting lab work through clinical trials. The extensive experience within the program makes it capable of offering access to potential treatment options in many first-in-human clinical trials involving cellular therapies that span many tumor types. Beyond research, Baylor University Medical Center was one of the first North Texas providers to offer adult commercial use of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T), its blood and marrow transplant program is one of the nation’s oldest, having treated more than 6000 patients in nearly 40 years.
